WEEK 24 RESULTS

Points won: 9 - Points Lost: 18
We entered this week's position round in sixth place which matched us up with Team 16 who held fifth place. Both teams were far from their best in the first game but we had the greater struggles as Team 16 came out on top 774-675. We dusted ourselves off and evened the series with an 814-787 win in the second game. Our resurgence didn't last long as Team 16 clobbered us 840-729 in the rubber game of the series to take two of three. They also had the edge in total pinfall by a score of 2401-2218 and  defeated us on points by 18-9.

WOULD A LINEUP CHANGE HELP US?

Looking at the lineups throughout our league, it's evident that nearly every team follows certain conventions. The bowler with the highest average typically bowls last and the bowler with the lowest average typically bowls second. But what of the first and third positions? Is there a trend we might be able to exploit with a lineup shift?

Our own lineup features Quinton bowling first with Brandon bowling third and they have shown distinctive statistical trends. Quinton's scores cover a wide range with high peaks and low valleys whereas Brandon's scores are concentrated in a much smaller range near the middle.

WEEK 23 RESULTS

Points Won: 16 - Points Lost: 11
This week we had Team 3 on the schedule. Quinton was out of action but Kevin was kind enough to step in which saved us from using Quinton's average minus a ten pin penalty per game.

We earned a lopsided win in the first game by a score of 915-804 but Team 3 turned the tables on us in the second game with a 778-878 thumping. Thus, we had a split with a lead of only 11 pins entering the rubber game of the series. Team 3 cooled off considerably in the final game while we were able to hold form. This allowed us to finish the night with a 788-730 win while also seizing the points for total pinfall.

By winning 16 points and losing 11, we improved our record to 160.5-136.5. We have a position round next week. We were 2.5 points behind Team 16 and 5.5 points ahead of The Four Horsemen before last night. Was 16-11 enough to move us up? We should know by the end of the day.

WEEK 22 RESULTS

Points Won: 23 - Points Lost: 4
What a week it was! Garrett was amazing, hitting 33 strikes out of 36 shots and setting the house record with an 876 series. We mere mortals weren't so bad either. As a team we won 23 of the 27 points and we were just good enough to beat the previous league high series by a single pin.

Thanks to Garrett, I had to add another column for 800 series. Garrett, I dare you to make me add a "900" column!

I'M BACK

Since I got sick a couple of weeks ago, I've been neglecting things here. I haven't turned on my laptop in about two weeks. I'm finally back on my feet again so I'll soon be able to get everything back in order and up to date.

More importantly, I want to bowl well. It's so much easier to bowl when one's head doesn't feel like it weighs fifty pounds. I bowled a 705 series in the LVT Sunday afternoon and I'd love to carry that over to Wednesday night.

WEEK 19 RESULTS

Points Won: 12.5 - Points Lost: 14.5
In three close games, we finished with a tie, a win, and a loss. In the end, MO had a slight edge on us by a score of 14.5-12.5. We were a few breaks away from coming out on top but random chance didn't operate in our favor. Of course, our opponents could say they were a few breaks away from a bigger victory.

"Power Sleeve"
A few weeks back I was watching a PBA event on TV with my dad. We observed Jason Belmonte bowling with a spandex sleeve over his right elbow and forearm. My dad said something like, "Just watch. Dozens of guys down at the local lanes will be wearing those before long because they saw this guy wearing one."

WEEK 18 RESULTS

Points Won: 22 - Points Lost:5
We rebounded from last week's horrid performance to post our two highest games and our highest series of the season. This helped us to attain a record of 22-5 for the night and it pulled us out of our two-week skid. Our record improved to 90.5-71.5. What a difference a week makes!

WEEK 17 RESULTS

Points Won: 3 - Points Lost: 24
That hurt. None of us had a good night and it's tough to tally many points when the entire team is off its game. We were 3-24 this week which dropped our record to 68.5-66.5. After our six week resurgence, that's two bad weeks in a row.

I am very unhappy with the way I've been bowling. This week, our opponents were essentially punting four points to me and I fumbled away three of them. For whatever reason, I have been squeezing and clutching the ball. I'm not having this problem in my leagues on Monday or Friday. I'm averaging 195 and 193 for them. My struggles on Wednesday nights are exasperating. I'm going to do everything I can to sort myself out so I can get back to making positive contributions to the team. I know I can do better and it's high time I did.

WEEK 16 RESULTS

Points Won: 7 - Points Lost: 20
We entered the night with high hopes but those hopes were dashed by Team 16 who earned 20 of the 27 points. Other than Garrett, we weren't very sharp and Team 16 took advantage of us.

Team 16 earned 6 of 7 points in the first game but we drew even by grabbing 6 of 7 in the second. It was all Team 16 in the third game as they swept all 7 points and earned the points for total pinfall. With our 7-20 performance, our record fell to 65.5-42.5 and we dropped to fifth place.

Next week is a position round so it would appear we will draw The Four Horseman who are presently in sixth place. (If anyone has an explanation for this peculiar team name, please share.)  Oops. The position round is two weeks away.

WEEK 15 RESULTS

Points Won: 18.5 - Points Lost: 8.5
Team PBS enjoyed another strong night as Garrett scored a 700 series while Brandon and Quinton trailed not far behind. Our score of 895 in the third game and the series score of 2558 were season highs. This earned us 18.5 points versus One Time who earned 8.5.

We now stand at 58.5-22.5 in the current segment of the season. We were only half a point out of first place entering the evening. When the league stats are posted later today, we will learn if this week's performance was enough to vault us to the top.

WEEK 14 RESULTS

Points Won: 23 - Points Lost: 4
The first Battle of the Pro Shops between Pinole Bowlers Supply and The Bowler's Advantage started off with a fizzler littered with splits, washouts and low scores. Quinton and Brandon were able to carry us through it to a 755-708 victory.

From that point, Team PBS was better able to adapt to the conditions where Team TBA continued to struggle. Team PBS followed with victories in game 2 (819-792) and game 3 (829-705) to earn a series sweep and a total score of 23-4. This boosted our record to 40-14 and almost certainly bumped us up a few places in the standings. The official league stats should be available within a few hours.
