WEEK 16 RESULTS

Points Won: 7 - Points Lost: 20
We entered the night with high hopes but those hopes were dashed by Team 16 who earned 20 of the 27 points. Other than Garrett, we weren't very sharp and Team 16 took advantage of us.

Team 16 earned 6 of 7 points in the first game but we drew even by grabbing 6 of 7 in the second. It was all Team 16 in the third game as they swept all 7 points and earned the points for total pinfall. With our 7-20 performance, our record fell to 65.5-42.5 and we dropped to fifth place.

Next week is a position round so it would appear we will draw The Four Horseman who are presently in sixth place. (If anyone has an explanation for this peculiar team name, please share.)  Oops. The position round is two weeks away.

WEEK 15 RESULTS

Points Won: 18.5 - Points Lost: 8.5
Team PBS enjoyed another strong night as Garrett scored a 700 series while Brandon and Quinton trailed not far behind. Our score of 895 in the third game and the series score of 2558 were season highs. This earned us 18.5 points versus One Time who earned 8.5.

We now stand at 58.5-22.5 in the current segment of the season. We were only half a point out of first place entering the evening. When the league stats are posted later today, we will learn if this week's performance was enough to vault us to the top.

WEEK 14 RESULTS

Points Won: 23 - Points Lost: 4
The first Battle of the Pro Shops between Pinole Bowlers Supply and The Bowler's Advantage started off with a fizzler littered with splits, washouts and low scores. Quinton and Brandon were able to carry us through it to a 755-708 victory.

From that point, Team PBS was better able to adapt to the conditions where Team TBA continued to struggle. Team PBS followed with victories in game 2 (819-792) and game 3 (829-705) to earn a series sweep and a total score of 23-4. This boosted our record to 40-14 and almost certainly bumped us up a few places in the standings. The official league stats should be available within a few hours.

WEEK 13 RESULTS

Points Won: 17 - Points Lost 10
We knew we had our work cut out for us as our opponent this week was Beast Mode, the league's top team for the first part of the season. Quinton's job sent him out of town but we were fortunate to have Kevin Beber step in for him.

In the first game, we shot 851 which was one of our high scores of the season but we were topped by Beast Mode's 888. We didn't let it get us down and we battled back to post our high series for the season. It was enough to win the second and third games plus total pinfall. With our individual points, the score for the night was 17-10. That's a very respectable performance against one of the league's toughest teams.

WEEK 12 RESULTS

Points Won: 18 - Points Lost: 9
After a week off for the Thanksgiving holiday, we came back with another successful night, posting a record of 19-8. This improved our record for the season to 134.5-189.5 and moved us up one position in the standings.

Quinton won each of his first two games by a single pin, much to the dismay of Lisa Burney who had to be restrained from violence (only in jest, of course). After we lost the first game, Brandon gave us a big lift in the second game with a scintillating 256 which propelled us to a much needed win. The momentum carried into the third game which we also claimed, along with the total pinfall.

After week #8, we were in 16th (last) place with a record of 63.5-152.5 and a winning percentage of .294. After week #12, we are in 14th place with a record of 134.5-189.5 and a winning percentage of .415. That's a record of 71-37 (.657) over the past month.

WEEK 11 RESULTS

Points Won: 17 - Points Lost: 10
It was another successful week with a record of 17-10 for the night. Our record for the season improved to 115.5-181.5. I think it's safe to say Quinton and Brandon are rounding back into form. Now if I can pull out of my present tailspin, I think we'll be ready to take off.

Thanks to a fluke in the schedule and the position rounds, it appears we'll bowl against How Swede It Is for a third consecutive match once we return from our break for Thanksgiving. Even though the league is taking next week off, we could still come out for some practice. Anyone interested?

WEEK 10 RESULTS

Points Won: 17 - Points Lost: 10
For the second consecutive week, Quinton started us off with a 266 game. Let's see that trend continue! We won two of the three games plus total pinfall for a record of 17-10 on the evening. Our record for the season is 97.5-172.5. With two solid weeks in a row, is it safe to say our horrific slump is over?

WEEK 9 RESULTS

Points Won: 18 - Points Lost: 9
That's more like it! Quinton gave us a big lift by breaking out with a 266 in the first game. We won two of the three games and led in total pinfall for our best night of the season. Our record for the night was 18-9. That boosted our record for the season to 80.5-162.5. Will it be enough to move us out of the cellar? We should know tomorrow when the league stat sheet is posted.

WEEK #7 STATS POSTED

I scanned this week's stat sheet so it's available for viewing on the STAT SHEETS page. I noticed we're still listed as "Team 6." Perhaps one of us should write "Pinole Bowlers Supply" on the scoresheet tomorrow so the secretary will put our team's name on the stat sheets.

It was more of the same this week. Garrett bowled splendidly with another 700 series and the rest of us.... let's just say Garrett might be looking for a new team soon. We were 4-23 which dropped our record for the season to 57-131.

WEEK #6 STATS POSTED

I stopped by Paddock Bowl tonight to watch Brandon and Quinton bowl for awhile. Brandon commented that our new stat sheet must look real bad since I didn't have it on the blog. Well, he was right that it looks bad but I wasn't trying to hide the bad news. I was just forgetful about bringing it to everyone's attention. It's on the STAT SHEET page as usual.

WEEK #6 RESULTS

Our comeback didn't arrive as we hoped. Garrett was terrific, Quinton rebounded, Brandon held his ground, and I went completely in the tank.  The result was a 9-18 score for the night which dropped our season's record to 52-110. Garrett's outstanding 728 series included 30 clean frames. Mighty impressive!

GEMINI BOWLING JERSEYS

Not presently available in size XL
I placed an order for some PBA-style jerseys by Gemini but they just informed me that the size Quinton and I wear is on back order and won't be available for six-to-eight weeks.

They said I could switch to a full custom jersey but those were a bit rich for my wallet (starting at $89.00 apiece). Six-to-eight weeks is a long time to wait. I'll see if I can find something else.

If I were a 1-Percenter, I'd go for something like the jersey below.

We might look too good in these

WEEK #5 STATS POSTED

We enter the first position round in 16th (last) place with a record of 43-92. We will be paired with Team 7, the squad in 15th place with a record of 44.5-90.5. We have nowhere to go but up at this point. I say our hot streak starts this Wednesday. What do you say?

WEEK #5 RESULTS

Points Won: 6 - Points Lost: 21
Our slump continued as Team 3 came out on top 21-6 last night. We were hammered hard in the first game 835-769. The second and third games were closer with scores of 854-830 and 734-705 but Team 3 prevailed each time for a three game sweep. All we could muster were 6 individual points which were far short of our goal. Our record for the season is now 43-92 which I suspect will leave us in last place.

WEEK #3 RESULTS

Ouch! That didn't exactly go the way we planned it. Garrett started out on fire with an opening game of 269 but it went mostly downhill from there. Pinole Bowlers Supply lost all three games and scored only five individual points. Twenty-two points went to The Four Horseman. (Yes, that's how they spell it and it's a team of three men and one woman. It must be an inside joke.) With the 5-22 score this week, our record for the season fell to 32-49.

WEEK #2 RESULTS

Points Won: 14 - Points Lost: 13
Garrett was out sick and Quinton was jammed up in San Jose traffic so Brandon and I had to turn it up a notch this week. In their absence, we used Garrett's and Quinton's entering averages minus a ten pin penalty (188 & 202 respectively) for each game. Quinton earned two points and Garrett earned one in absentia.

Brandon and I bowled well enough for us to win the first and third games but we were edged in total pinfall by about thirty. Brandon earned three points in his head-to-head matchup while I earned two. For the night, our record was 14-13. This evened our season's record at 27-27.

Many thanks to Diablo Valley Bowl for the generous practice rates.

STATS FOR WEEK #1 POSTED

You can click on the STAT SHEETS tab above to see the league's results from week #1.

I scored 191-185-233 (609) with The Blockheads tonight. After last week's fiasco, I'd be happy to repeat that on Wednesday.

OPENING NIGHT

Points Won: 13 - Points Lost: 14
We didn't exactly get off to a hot start. Well, Garrett did, with a 706 series. I felt good in the beginning but struggled most of the night. Somehow, we managed to go 13-14 for the night with only Garrett firing on all cylanders. We picked up six points for winning the second and third games plus the individual points shown below. We could have salvaged a few more points in the last game but I killed it with five splits and a missed ten pin.

WEEK 1   01  02  03  SER  G AVG PTS
Quinton 148 169 200  517  3 172   1
Mark    143 180 136  459  3 153   0
Brandon 171 187 205  563  3 188   3
Garrett 234 246 226  706  3 235   3
TOTAL   696 782 767 2245 12 187   7

The rest of the way, I expect to give you guys a lot more than the crud I turned out last night.

WHITE HOUSE BOWLING ALLEY

I visited the White House in July but I didn't get to see this part of it.

Why did it have to be the worst
president who was an avid bowler?

Getting Started

I set up this blog as a resource for our team in the 810 Showcase League. I intend for it to be a place we can exchange information, maintain schedules and stats, keep up with news about our league and the sport of bowling in general. Where it goes from here is up to us.
